Adaptability: How Antifragile Workers and AI Will Transform HR

Dr Nassim Nicholas Taleb, renowned author and thinker, coined the term “antifragile” to describe how to thrive in the face of adversity.

The AIHR HR Trends Report for 20251 outlines several transformative changes that are set to reshape the world of work. One of the key themes is the adoption and adaptation of AI in HR.

While AI is becoming common place, HR departments are still grappling with balancing cost efficiency and workforce anxiety over AI-driven transformation.

Another significant trend is the rise of the “antifragile worker.”

This concept refers to employees who thrive in disruptive environments and use challenges as opportunities for growth. Organisations are increasingly focusing on developing a resilient and motivated workforce. Adaptability, high levels of emotional intelligence and outcomes-based systems thinking are some of characteristics noted for an “antifragile worker”

The report also emphasises the importance of closing the gender equity gap. This requires an environment where adaptability is valued and nurtured in all employees, allowing diverse perspectives to drive innovation. By fostering a culture that embraces change, organisations empower women to accelerate their growth into leadership roles and transforming gender dynamics. Achieving true gender equity boosts GDP and leads to economic stability. Despite progress, women still encounter distinct hurdles in the workplace; resolving these is vital for organisational success.

Having the right seat at the right table empower leaders to modify the people agenda.
